*Longfellow Bridge Construction

Due to Longfellow Bridge rehabilitation construction, the bridge is currently closed for vehicular travel in the Cambridge-bound direction.

Effective July 20, 2013, one lane of traffic will carry vehicles into Boston (using the current Cambridge-bound lane) and Cambridge-bound traffic will be detoured using a signed route from Charles Circle to Land Boulevard using Leverett Circle and Monsignor O’Brien Highway. The detour route is shown here.

The three and a half year project to rehabilitate the Longfellow Bridge will require a closure of the bridge to traffic in the Cambridge-bound direction for the duration of the project.

One vehicle travel lane to Boston, MBTA Red Line service inbound and outbound, emergency response, and bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.

The implementation of the detour is weather dependent.  If heavy rains are predicted, the detour will be delayed one week to ensure the new configuration is put in place during a weekend.

Parking

Public parking can be found at the Marriott Parking Garage or the 7 Cambridge Center Garage.
